Born to Be Wild: Fall Fashion Finds Its Fearless Side at Intrigue

There’s something about fall that makes us want to have a little more fun getting dressed.

Maybe it’s the layers. Maybe it’s the boots. Maybe it’s finally being able to reach for rich color, beautiful texture and accessories that actually make an outfit.

Whatever the reason, Fall 2026 is not the season to play it safe.

And on September 18 & 19, Intrigue Fine Apparel is inviting you to come see it all in person at The Edit at Intrigue, a two-day fall event celebrating elevated everyday dressing — from denim and sweaters to belts, handbags, shoes and all the finishing touches that make an outfit feel like you.

For sisters and owners Annette and Debbie, who have spent more than 35 years helping women throughout Bucks County discover their personal style, fall is about much more than following trends. It’s about finding those special pieces that make getting dressed exciting again.

This season, they’re encouraging us to embrace our slightly wilder side.

Animal Instinct

Leopard has officially earned its place as a neutral.

This fall, animal prints are showing up everywhere from jackets and scarves to handbags, shoes and statement knits. But the newest way to wear them is less about matching and more about mixing.

Pair leopard with denim. Add it to chocolate brown. Wear it with burgundy. Let a printed scarf peek out from a classic jacket. Or make one fabulous animal-print coat the entire moment.

Cow and calf-hair textures, suede and other nature-inspired patterns are joining leopard this season, too. The result feels sophisticated, tactile and just a little unexpected.

 

Fringe Benefits

If there is one detail bringing movement to fall, it’s fringe.

Fringe-trimmed coats, suede handbags, crossbody bags, jackets and accessories bring a relaxed luxury to even the simplest outfit. Intrigue's beautiful cream fringed coat is a perfect example: dramatic enough to turn heads, but neutral enough to wear again and again.

That balance is what makes this trend work. A fringe bag with denim and a sweater. A fringed jacket over an otherwise classic outfit. A little movement goes a long way.

Brown Is the New Black

Black isn't going anywhere, but this season brown is giving it some serious competition.

Espresso. Chocolate. Cognac. Camel. Rich suede. Deep brown leather.

The palette feels warm, expensive and incredibly wearable — especially when different shades are layered together.

Even better? Brown opens the door to some of fall's best color combinations.

Brown + blue. Burgundy + olive. Pink + brown. Cognac + denim. Olive + cream.

The old rules about which colors “go together” have loosened considerably. Fall 2026 is about sophisticated, unexpected combinations rather than perfectly matched outfits.

And don't be afraid to mix your browns. A cognac bag does not require a cognac shoe. In fact, it's often more interesting when it doesn't.

Belt It

Sometimes the smallest piece changes the entire outfit.

This season, belts are back as a true fashion accessory — think beautiful buckles, suede, leather, texture and even a little Western influence.

Use one to define the waist of a dress or jacket, give shape to an oversized sweater, or simply make denim and a great top feel finished.

And yes, you can mix the belt with your bag, shoe and jewelry rather than matching everything perfectly. Consider that permission officially granted.

Jeans: Find Your Shape

Denim remains the backbone of the fall wardrobe, but there isn't one silhouette everyone needs to wear.

Skinny jeans are still relevant — particularly tucked into this season's tall boots — while slim-leg, bootcut and wider silhouettes give women plenty of other options.

The best jean is ultimately the one that works for your body and your wardrobe.

Intrigue carries denim from brands including AG, DL1961 and L'AGENCE, making this a particularly good season to experiment with shape rather than buying another version of the jean already hanging in your closet.

Born to Be Wild — From the Knee Down

The up-to-the-knee boot is having a major moment.

Wear it under a dress. Pair it with a skirt. Pull it over a slim jean. Try chocolate suede instead of basic black.

For something more delicate, the slingback and tiny kitten heel continue to be everywhere. They add polish without feeling overly formal — exactly the kind of shoe that can move from denim during the day to dinner at night.

Go Bold

Minimal jewelry has had its moment. Fall is ready for a little drama.

Bold gold earrings. Sculptural cuffs. Stacked bracelets. Statement rings. Oversized shapes.

The jewelry in the season's collections isn't meant to disappear into an outfit. It's part of the outfit.

And don't be afraid to mix things up. Gold and silver can coexist. One substantial cuff can transform a simple black top. Statement earrings can do the work of an entire accessory stack.

Perhaps the best part of this season is that “Born to Be Wild” can mean something different for every woman.

For one woman, it might be a leopard coat. For another, it’s a chocolate suede bag with fringe.

It might be burgundy paired unexpectedly with olive. A dramatic gold cuff. A silk scarf tied at the neck. A beautiful belt. Or finally buying those knee-high boots you’ve been eyeing.
