In the Bag: Why I’d Rather Shop in Person

By Fern Baker-Guy, Stylist at Intrigue

Let’s face it: some of us just really love to shop. I’m guilty. Maybe it’s the primeval thrill of the hunt, finding that perfect piece to (metaphorically) club over the head and drag home to my cave…um, I mean house.

Don’t get me wrong; online shopping has its place in our world. When the pandemic hit, it was a lifeline for many of us during lockdown. It’s great if you know exactly what you want or need – just Google it and shop away! It’s also a great boon for those who either don’t live close to brick-and-mortar stores, or those who don’t feel safe being out in the world just yet. Intrigue Fine Apparel has a lovely website that’s easy to browse and shop.

But for me, the act of endlessly browsing multiple websites, reading reviews, and comparison shopping doesn’t come close to walking into a boutique: the friendly greetings, the smell of newness and maybe a yummy candle, and the POSSIBILITIES…there’s nothing like it. Shopping in person is a visual and tactile experience. And what can compare to the thrill of finding something amazing that you didn’t know you wanted or needed? That perfect boot, or that butt-boosting pair of pants? The instant gratification of walking out of the store with your purchase in-hand, dreaming of how and when you will wear it, well – nothing compares. For me, that’s what in-person shopping is all about.

If you stop in to see us at Intrigue, know that you are entering a safe and sanitized environment. Masks are worn, fitting rooms are sanitized after each use, and clothes are steamed after any try-ons. You can even call us to purchase items over the phone, drive up, and we’ll run them out to your car. We are here to serve your shopping needs, however, whenever and whatever your preference.

I hope to see you soon at the House of Intrigue! And if you can’t make it in? Then I’ll see you on   .
